Florida woman '2 drunk 2 care' faces wrongful death lawsuit

A young Florida woman who tweeted “2 Drunk 2 Care” just before killing two people in a wrong-way, head-on collision is facing both criminal charges and a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the families of the two young women who died in the crash.

The driver, who was underage at the time, reportedly drank alcohol at a restaurant bar and then sent the message on Twitter using her “Pot Princess” account identification, according to a news report.

The criminal case against the woman accuses her of vehicular homicide and DUI manslaughter. Her blood-alcohol content was measured at more than twice the state's legal limit shortly after the crash.

The owner of the vehicle that the woman drove on the night of the fatal car accident is also named as a defendant in the wrongful death claim. The wrongful death lawsuit alleges that he was negligent in allowing the defendant to drive his car.

The woman’s boss was also with her and told investigators that he witnessed her drinking and walked her to her car that night.

Other parties could also potentially be liable in this case. According to one witness, the then 20-year-old defendant stated to a bar employee that she was underage, yet still managed to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.

Sometimes the establishment that serves a minor, or serves an adult too much to drink, can be held liable when damage, injury or death occurs.

Hopefully all responsible parties are identified and are held accountable, criminally and/or for monetary damages as the law allows.
